Yep, Alex made a depression-era quilt for the movie The Persian Pickle Club which has yet to be completed.  The book was written by Sandra Dallas and tells the story of Rita, a new town resident of Harveyville, Kansas, during the Great Depression. Rita is accepted into The Persian Pickle Club quilting group and they begin to teach her how to quilt. Alex made the quilt using reproduction fabrics and used a great zig zag border. She demonstrates how to do the binding on that border in Show 1905: Animal Portraits with Barbara Yates Beasley.

Just beautiful, Alex!!! And the linear zig-zag contrasts so nicely with the curves in the body of the quilt. Wish I could have been there in person to see you and the quilt. I have a new appreciation for 30's reproduction fabrics! Very inspiring, this quilt!
