"Spring Dance" Best of Show AQS Grand Rapids 2016

It doesn't seem to happen quite as often as it used to, but this year's Best of Show at AQS Grand Rapids was completely hand made by Barbara Clem of Rockford, IL. This hand appliquéd and hand quilted beauty is called "Spring Dance." Click here to watch a video regarding "Spring Dance."

Congratulations Barbara, it is so great to see a hand quilted quilt get Best In Show. I have been quilting for five years and the only hand quilter in my quilting group. I love the feeling of the fabric in my hands, I know that you made each stitch with love. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Wasn't the announcer funny, talking about a "sewing . . . Machine" like it was some new-fangled thing?

Quilting is a lost art, if you didn't know. ;)

Gorgeous! I am 81 and still learning. I have a rich heritage in textile crafts. Am also 'from' Rockford,Il, was pleased to see in notes about the quilt. Now live in Idaho. Congrats, again! It is beautiful!

Beautiful quilt. Great to see a hand quilted quilt win a major award. Hand quilting is losing ground to machine work these days but we hand quilters are still out there keeping traditional work alive. Wish I could see it in person as I am sure the photo doesn't do it justice. Congratulations !

Beautiful quilt. Nice to see a hand quilted quilt win Best of Show. Hand quilting seems to be losing ground to machine work but thankfully there are a few hand quilters still around. Me included!
