'Queen Cotton' is a Technicolor film from wartime England, 1941, which shows the manufacture and design of both woven and printed cotton fabrics.  Make sure to stay until the end to see the fabulous fashion show made by top designers from cotton cloth.

When I was a child in the 1950's I was taken sometimes to visit friends near Manchester. Mum loved to go to the local markets to buy cotton material. Great film, thank you

Loved this my 5th great grandfather was a cotton mill owner and my own grandmother worked in his mill from being 12 year old until she retired at 60 . Lots of my ancestors worked with cotton perhaps that is why I love fabric now. Thanks for posting very enjoyable.

What a wonderful video to make a quilter of today appreciate all that we just naturally take for granted, what an eye opener to the long way that fabric designing and manufacturing has come! My hats off from the designers to the factory personal of the modern world of fabric. Thank You all so very much for all that you do!

very informative. couldn't help noticing all the fur coats. It suggests great wealth during a time when they were rationing food?

Those were the days of food rationing in UK during WW2 everyone was a healthy weight . Typical weekly allowance for 1 person - 1egg , 2 oz butter and tea, 1 oz cheese , 8 oz sugar. Gardens were dug up to grow vegetables and potatoes .
Ps loved the film . I live in Uk and haven't seen this before.

very interesting, would love to see how they print the fabric now. And, those models were super skinny then, just as they are today.

The designers of today could earn a few things about wearable clothes.
These were lovely.
