What Did They Name Ricky's Quilt?

Ricky made this amazing quilt and there is a story about the title. The runner up was hilarious.

Ricky named this after getting suggestions from a Facebook post that showed the image of the quilt. It is a “photo quilt” that Ricky made a few years ago based on a photo that he took. The quilt which measures 36” x 42” and the image was printed on one piece of fabric using a large-format printer. Then it was quilted. Aster wildflowers are very prolific in Colorado. Ricky put the image on Facebook and asked for names. He got tons of suggestions.

The name he chose was very clever: Asternoon Delight

The hilarious suggestion that Ricky uses as the subtitle is: Kiss My Aster

Love the names .. I used the same sort of technique last year on'My Lady' which win first prize Art Quilt at Birmingham Festival of Quilts (UK) much to my surprise.

I got a similar picture enlarged for a Ruth McDowell class some years ago, and found several retail outlets that could easily enlarge almost anything that would lay on a flat printer, ha ha. Google "large format printing" for places near you, and also check out blue print copy places.

question .. the quilt is stunning ,, but who in the real world has access to a large format printer ?? Are there company's that will print for people?? Would be helpful to include that info . Not many have the $$ to own one outright .. thank you

Gosh Ricky's work is taking on a whole new direction. Amazing considering how much time is taken up by the show and travel and teaching. Exquisite.
