Alex found something "old" that she couldn't wait to give to her granddaughter Lev to try.

Do you remember sewing cards? Kids have been using them for generations to learn to sew. I remember using them, so I was beyond thrilled when I stumbled on a good old-fashioned set of them. Understanding that sewing often skips generations, I couldn’t wait to get them into Lev’s hands. She’s now 4 years old – Woot! Woot!  I think I just might have hooked another new quilter! If you are seeking summer fun with eager young hands, I highly recommend these – so strongly that I’ve made them available in our TQS shop, just for you and your next-gen quilter!

My Grandma got me some one year and I think that's what started my love of needle and thread. Glad to see there still around.

I bought a kit that was felt , cut out with holes ready to sew together for my six year old. Same principall as the sewing \cards. She made the bear and a heart and will enter them in the fair.

My 9 year old daughter is too old for the simpler stitching cards to appeal to her, but the gorgeous 1001 Nights themed stitching cards by Djeco were just perfect for encouraging her to stitch simple designs and embellishments.

Wow, they came back! This is how I learned to sew as a four year old. I remember sewing a doll all the way around and thought I was so cool! I still sew today and love it. I love machine but also love to hand sew as it it
so easy to travel with.

So good to hear that you all (including myself) had these as children! And thank you ConnieLou that you found some at Yoder's in Shipshewana because I am going there next week and will look for them.
Thank you Alex for the nostalgia!!

I had some when I was a child and found some at a garage sale a couple of years ago for my granddaughter. She is 5 now and has played with them a little bit, but I will keep them ready for her next visits.

I was looking for these and didn't find any so made my own for my grandkids. They enjoyed them. Now we are ready to move on to needle and thread.

I had them as a child (in the 50's). I didn't get the point of them back then. I found them boring and uninteresting. Hmmm. . . . I wonder why? I'm still not much of a seamstress but I love needle arts embroidery, counted cross stitch, crochet and quilting. Oh well, I would still buy these for my grandkids (if I had any).

Mommy gave these to me at 2 yrs.old. I got them for my 5 yr old granddaughter but she hardly sits still long enough now at 6. She's done a few. Just hope it does it's job!
