You could win this fabulous Egyptian Appliqué Art piece, "Karnak Gate," from the Tentmakers of Cairo! You may enter starting today, June 10, through June 30. A winner will be randomly selected on July 1st.

 

The columns with lotus tops are based on the columns of Karnak Temple in Upper Egypt. The stitcher is Wael from the shop of El Farouk who owns the rights to the pattern. Both of their signatures will be on the quilt measuring 140cm x 160cm (55"x63") and valued at US$ 1500.

I was lucky enough to see them when they came to Paducah, KY several years ago. It was amazing to watch them work. What a fabulous gift.

I have been to Cairo, but didn't see the Tentmakers. I did give money to help make the video. What I wouldn't give to win one of the quilts!!! Such wonderfully talented human beings. We should all celebrate diversity!!

Thank you so much for posting this video. I have never been to Cairo or even seen anything like this. It is just amazing and the work is so detailed. Makes me want to try my hand at something in this area. Of course a lot simpler.

These Tentmakers are truly gifted .. The colours, creativity and swiftness in making these panels by hand are truly remarkable. It will be around for generations.

I watched them do their work 2 years ago at the Phoenix AQS show. They are master needle turn stitchers and so accurate and quick. Just amazing!

What incredible work! I would love to own a small panel these talented men have made. I have been to Cairo but did not see anything like this or I would have bought it.

What absolute beauty. The color and design is truly breathtaking! These men a certainly blessed with these gifts.
We have a friend who immigrated from Cairo 4yrs ago, his wife came 2 yrs ago.
They are Coptic Christians and are so very happy to be in America.
I am anxious to share this video with Abdulmessiah and Dalia.
