Ami Simms uses this stitch to applique. She calls it "invisible appliqué" and has a small book demonstrating how to do it. Fun!

Thanks for this tutorial. I knew there had to be a better way than the overlock stitch I have been using. You've shown it in an fantastically understandable fashion.

Just heard about the ladder stitch yesterday at a lecture and was a little confused and what do I get but a clear and concise tutorial the very next day. I will be using this stitch in the future. Thanks
