Blue Tulips on Pink Skies was machine quilted in a traditional style with feathers, stipple quilting, and curvy lines. Sue Nickels' quilting designs were inspired by Amish Bars quilts. Cotton fabric, thread, and cotton-blend batting were used to create this lovely quilt, which also appears on the cover of her book, Machine Quilting: A Primer of Techniques.

It is just as sweet and pretty as can be. I love the contrasting vibrant colors paired with the softer appliqued panels. The quilting really stands out, too!

Boy, Sue really knows how to use bright colors. I saw her and her sister Pat's Beatles quilt in person. Wow. These are two super talented sisters. I imagine this quilt is even more stunning in person, as quilts usually are.
