The "Rock Star" quilter who said, "I wanted a 100 percent women-owned business supported by women, an art space for people to walk in and feel super creative." is longarm quilter extraordinaire, Karen McTavish.

She opened her studio between the Benchmark Tattoo & Gallery and The Snooty Fox Tea Shop and knew she wanted to move in even when it still had dirt floors.  A year later the floors are covered with colorful carpets and quilting machines are available for rent.

She won't tell you she is famous, but you probably have heard of her work.  She developed a wavy quilting stitch to resemble Super Woman's hair, we call it "McTavishing".

Very Very fortunate to have Karen's studio within driving distance.....Sh e is so awesome and love love love the new studio. I have been lucky to have taken McTavishing classes and I am always in awe that I am quilting with a Quilting Rockstar, who is a fantastic mentor. Time flies by quilting there.

Karen's studio is amazing. I have the good fortune to live in Duluth. I have taken a couple classes there, one on designing a whole cloth quilt and the other on "how do I quilt this?"

I thoroughly enjoyed both. Karen is a hoot and so are the other tow women who work there. I always feel welcome and leave inspired. She also sells thread, batting and batik backing fabric. Do yourself a favor and stop in if you are ever in the area!
