Carolyn Konig is a one-woman stitching dynamo! We were introduced to her by the lovely folks at QUILTMANIA a few years ago. This amazing quilter from Down Under recreates 18th century quilts entirely BY HAND!
After taking hundreds of photographs of antique quilts from museum collections, she begins the work of drafting each and every block, as well as the entire quilt design. Then comes the task of finding fabrics that most closely resemble the original fabrics of yore. After drafting the entire quilt, she begins hand piecing every element of it. Most quilters would take several years to complete just one quilt, but Carolyn manages to make at least THREE each year! This astounding bundle of energy has a very loyal following across the globe.
This winter, the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum's exhibit of Carolyn Konig's quilts will be on display from October 29-January 23, 2016. It is well worth a visit. Be sure to bring your magnifying glasses!
