Ricky Tims will headline the 2015 Quilters Take Manhattan event, to be held on September 26 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Fashion Institute of Technology in the heart of New York City.

This year, the QTM event weekend spans three days and add-on events include museum tours, walking tours of the Garment District led by fellow quilters, workshops at The City Quilter, a lecture by Aurifil's , a Moda Meet and Greet party at Kathryn Markel Fine Art, an After Dark cocktail party at the studio and loft home of Victoria Findlay Wolfe, and a chance to see the Tony-award-winning musical Something Rotten with a special up-close peek at some of the exquisite costumes.

Proceeds support the Quilt Alliance, a national nonprofit that documents, preserves and shares the history of quilts and their makers. Both Ricky and his late father Richard Tims, along with more than a thousand other quiltmakers have been interviewed for the Quilt Alliance’s oral history project, Quilters’ S.O.S. - Save Our Stories (Q.S.O.S.), that is archived in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

Tickets to Quilters Take Manhattan are still available. Click here to visit the Quilt Alliance’s website.
