Sharon. great info. I do a lot of crazy quilts/blocks. have never tried your method of quilting as you go. usually I sew my pieces onto a foundation block, square it up, then sew the blocks together. finally make the quilt sandwich and tie the blocks together. don't use batting because the foundation makes the quilt quite heavy at this point. will give your ideas a try. thanks, Sandy
