Spring still may be a few months away in your part of the world, but that's no reason you can't enjoy the bountiful new fabrics that P&B Textiles (Flora Bella) and Red Rooster Fabrics (Yippee...Daisies!) have coming to a quilt shop near you. Use these cheerful prints to make a fast-and-easy quilt featuring the Square Dance block that we found in Alex's book, Start Quilting...a great way to add a shot of color to your home decor.

To make a 6” finished Square Dance block:

CUT:

Cut 1 square 3 ½” x 3 ½” – This will be the center square.

Cut 2 rectangles 2” x 3 ½” – These will be the two side rectangles.

Cut 2 rectangles 2” x 6 ½” – These will be the top and bottom rectangles.

SEW:

Sew the 2” x 3 ½” side rectangles to each side of the center square.

Once they are attached, press the rectangles away from the center square.

Sew the 2” x 6 ½” rectangles to the top and the bottom of the square.

Press these rectangles away from the center square.

You have now completed one 6” finished Square Dance block.
