Downtown Denver has this marvelous curved building.  It makes you wonder, is it has hard to put a curve in a building as it is to put it into a quilt?

The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has revealed its plan for the visual look of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in 2014 and that look is the patchwork quilt. Here's what the Official Press Release had to say, 

At the heart of the Look of the Games concept design lies the principle of the "patchwork quilt" - a combination of 16 designs representing the most famous traditional Russian arts and crafts, ranging from Gzhel to Khokhloma. The Look of the Games concept is the visual embodiment of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games philosophy and is intended to express the character of modern Russia whilst at the same time introducing guests from all over the world to traditional Russian hospitality.

As deadlines approach for quilt competitions, we are once again reminded that a hanging sleeve is required.  There are a number of ways to do this and you should always double-check the show's requirements.

The American Quilter's Society has a set of directions you can download to help you make your sleeve.  Click here to go to AQS website and download directions.

And, available this Wednesday, 5/11, Sharon Pederson's Lesson 13, will guide you through another method of making your own quilt sleeve.

There it is, laying there in front of you, that delicious piece of fabric. You stare it like you've been staring at it for the last 3 months. What to do?  What to make?  Does this ever happen to you?  What do you do when it happens?  Do you just start cutting and see what happens?  Do you run out to your stash and try to match fabrics? Do you break out the graph paper or Electric Quilt?  Do you go to your quilt shop and look around for inspiration?
