Do you know about FabMo?  It is an all-volunteer, donor supported organization that diverts beautiful designer materials (more than 50 tons in 2012) from their otherwise destination, the landfill, and makes them available for creative reuse by anyone interested.

5975_http_wwwquiltmuseumorg_documents_nqof2014brochurepdf.jpgThe deadline is fast approaching if you want to participate in the National Quilt Museum contest, New Quilts from an Old Favorite

Each year this international contest challenges quiltmakers to create an innovative quilt based on a specific traditional pattern. The 2014 theme is Carolina LilyWinners of the contest traditionally include quilts from many different U.S. states and several other countries.

Quilts are selected for their excellence in design and techniques, their innovations, and their contributions to an exhibit showing the wide range of designs and styles the selected traditional pattern can inspire.

In cooperation with the American Quilter's Society, a catalog is published, featuring the award-winning and finalist quilts in full color, with a photo of the maker, information about the quilt's development and patterns and tips.

Past winners have included TQS members, let's see if we can do it again!  The entry deadline is November 1, 2013.

Caryl Bryer Fallert has a new exhibit which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the making of her first art quilt (Red Poppies) in 1983.

Caryl says, "The thirty quilts, all of which are new, revisit many of the themes of my past, award-winning work, and introduce new themes. Although there is diversity in style, the uniform size of the quilts (30" x 30") pulls the exhibit together visually. All of these quilts are made with fabric from the various collections I have designed for Benartex, which are based on my original hand-dyed and painted fabrics."

The exhibit will premiere at the International Quilt Festival in Houston TX in Oct./Nov. 2013, after which it will travel to other museums, galleries, and shows.
