Everyone needs one of these, maybe not quite as ornate...It is a Pinchbeck Chatelaine made in England sometime around 1730-1735.  It contains a scissor case, needle case, etui (which can also be used for holding needles, cosmetics or other articles), and two thimble cases.  It is currently in storage at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.    Click here to learn more.

Do you have a Chatelaine?

P.S.  Pinchbeck is an alloy of copper and zinc which resembles gold and was invented by Christopher Pinchbeck a London clockmaker.
