Arts and Old Lace
Arts & Old Lace Art Quilt Challenge participants received packets of lace, trim, and tailor’s swatches. The quilts address topics such as ancestors, weddings, flowers, lacemaking, famous artwork, and puns based on the challenge title.

Amish Influence
From Traditional to Modern
An exhibit of Amish influenced and inspired quilts featured in the new book Amish Quilts—The Adventure Continues from C&T Publishing. The quilts were selected from submissions to represent a broad spectrum—from Amish-made traditional quilts to modern interpretations that reference Amish quilts in new and unexpected ways.

Best of Quilt Con
The Modern Quilt Guild presents quilts from their inaugural show, QuiltCon 2013. This inspiring collection showcases the work of some amazing  modern quilters. Graphic and hip, these quilts represent what's coming out of today's modern quilting movement.

Children’s Artwork Quilts
Quilts, by their very nature, evoke a myriad of emotions. Shannon Shirley’s Children’s Artwork quilts reflect pure joy! You cannot help but smile when you look at the variety of textiles she has created to immortalize our children’s creativity. She has found a way to capture the very essence of children’s talents and the inherent pride in their artwork.

Calico Express Challenges
Rather than have an annual block exchange The Calico Express Friendship Group chose to complete three “themed” challenges, “Community,” “Celebration,” and “Bugs” in 2013.  The result was an amazing collection of fun and diverse theme interpretations.  

Faculty Exhibit
For almost three decades, Road to California instructors have been at the leading edge of developments in the quilt world. This year's roster is no different, and attendees will have the opportunity to view a host of inspiring design concepts and techniques. As always, this exhibit reflects the diversity of the quilting tradition.

Featured Artists
Diana McClun and Laura Nownes are among America's best-known quilting authors and instructors. Through books, seminars, classes, TV, and online workshops, they have taught tens of thousands of people to quilt. With more than a million copies sold, their book, is considered the most authoritative guide on how to quilt and has been the first choice of quilters and instructors for the last 25 years. 

Hoffman Challenge
Starting in 1988, the Hoffman Challenge has grown to be a premiere traveling quilt, clothing, and doll collection and is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. The Challenge started with 94 enthusiastic quilters, and in some ears, the number of entries has grown to more than 700. In addition to the three quilt categories (pieced, appliqué and mixed techniques), new categories include clothing (wearable art), accessories and dolls. While the majority of entries come from the United States, a wide variety of international entries are received. In 2013 Hoffman Fabric K7126_136G Peacock was chosen for the challenge. Joy of Redwork
The Joy of RedWork is as popular today as when introduced by the London Royal School of Needlework at the 1876 Centennial in Philadelphia. The Outline-Stitched Embroidery of Red thread on Muslin captured the American needle workers’ hearts. Enjoy the variety of RedWork Quilts and Hangings from clever embroiderers from across the country using Bird Brain Designs patterns.

The Cities of Angels
In 2011, Los Angeles County Supervisor, Gloria Molina found a group of quilters who were quilting in Mexico.  The East Los Angeles Stitchers Guild (TELAS) attended the groups quilt show in 2012 and 2013 in Puebla, Mexico also known as the City of Angels. In turn the International Quilters of Monterrey, Mexico attended the TELAS quilt show in Los Angeles in 2013.  A kinship between the quilting sisters on both sides of the border has grown and a Challenge was born.

Quilted in Honor
The Quilted In Honor Exhibit is a collection of quilts from top industry celebrities and quilters donated to support military families and returning veterans whose lives are forever changed because of service to our country.

Quilts in the Arcade
Each year Road to California is proud to present a collection of quilts from a Southern California Quilt Guild. This year the Atrium exhibit is highlighting the Camarillo Quilters Association. Their members have selected an array of quilts from traditional to modern and everything in between, which are sure to delight your eyes.

Reflections
Members of the Mason Dixon Quilt Professional Network were challenged to interpret a ‘reflection’ literally, spiritually, emotionally or physically. The results range from the whimsical, to the thoughtful, the serene and even the patriotic!

River of Quilts
Quilted Images of the Sacramento River
Members of the Quilters’ Sew-Ciety of Redding created their visual expression of twenty-five locations along the Sacramento River.  Through the use of quilts, you will see that the Sacramento River has a rich history and has served a major role in the economic, biological, cultural and recreational diversity of the Northern California region.
