11th Quilt Japan brings the best of Asian quilting to the National Quilt Museum June 14 - September 9, 2013. The quilts are from the "11th Quilt Japan" contest which is the mostly highly contested quilting competition in Japan.
Over 370 quilts were submitted and the quilters recongized in the contest are considered to be among an elite group. The 33 piece exhibit will travel to only three museums in the United States.
According to the museum:
The mix of traditional and contemporary quilts show the exquisite attention to detail that one can only develop through years of practice. The quilts challenge the viewer with unique colors, shapes, and styles.
