According to the October 16 C&T Publishing Blog, The City Quilter was selected by Zagat’s 2013 New York City Shopping Guide as the best “fabric/notions” store in New York City in the just-published 2013 edition. It was also one of a handful receiving the designation of “Zagat Top Spot” stores that had the “highest ratings, popularity and importance.”
Here is what Zagat’s Guide had to say:
The “quilt addicted” find their “paradise” at this recently expanded “fabric supermarket” in the Chelsea art district, “showcasing the newest trends” for serious crafters and stocking beautiful cotton fabrics (including NYC-themed prints), notions, patterns and books; expert sales people teach classes and welcome newcomers into “a real community of stitchers”, and a separate gallery devoted to contemporary art quilts is worth a visit alone.
Captain John and Alex were there last year when the ArtQuilt Gallery•NYC, the gallery located next The City Quilter was getting ready to open. John took this video when they stopped by to see Cathy Izzo and Dale Riehl, co-owners of The City Quilter as they were preparing for the opening of the gallery and an exhibit by Daphne Taylor.
Coming next to the gallery is Judi Blaydon / Variations - pieced quilts and fabric altars from November 6 to December 15, 2012. A gallery talk takes place on Tuesday, November 6 at 6pm.
Don't forget to stop by and visit when you are in NYC.
