As many of you know, Alex was very inspired by the Espirit Collection of quilts, and now for the first time since the collection debuted in 1990, all 82 historic masterworks of American quilt making selected from the world renowned Esprit Collection of Amish quilts will be available for viewing at the Lancaster Quilt & Textile museum.

This is the first time the entire collection of 82 quilts will be seen together since they appeared at the deYoung Museum (San Francisco) in 1990 and, as Julie says, "Who knows when they will ever come together again?"

The exhibition will be presented in the Beaux-Arts inspired museum, 37 North Market Street Lancaster PA, for one week only-March 13-18, 2012. Other special events will be available including a public reception and an exclusive evening dinner with the original Esprit curator, Julie Silber.

Public exhibit admission and curatorial tours will be available at the museum Wednesday through Sunday March 14-18. Lancaster Quilt & Textile Museum exhibit hours will be 9am to 7pm Wednesday through Saturday, and Noon to 5pm on Sunday.

To learn more about the exhibit and purchase tickets, click here.

And while you are in Lancaster, don't forget to stop by the AQS Quilt Show and Contest, March 14-17, within walking distance from the museum.

Here is a look at some of the quilts in the original Esprit Headquarters.

Sonja Hinrichsen Snow Drawing looks a lot like a stitched quilt!  No surprise that this is the area where David Taylor lives.

Here are some the quilts from the fabulous faculty at Road to California this year.  Some of them have been guests here at TQS.

Have you watched their shows?  Are they in your Star library?

Remember, you may still have a gift certificate for free shows and after seeing the artist's quilt, you may want to choose one of these.
