Fans of Clare O'Donohue's Someday Quilts Mysteries have to wait another year for the release of The Widower's Choice, the 5th book in the series - but they won't have to be without their favorite quilt group/amateur sleuths. Clare O'Donohue is releasing a special 84-page e-story called CATHEDRAL WINDOWS, on November 13th, priced at $2.99 and downloadable to e-readers and computers.

But 5 lucky TQS members will be receiving their copies FREE. And exclusive to TQS - they will receive the story 48 hours before it is available to anyone else. All you have to do is post a comment at www.clareodonohue.com/blog and you'll be entered in a drawing. Winners will be announced on Nov. 11th.

Look what's in store...
Christmas is just around the corner in the Hudson Valley. Nell and her friends at the Someday Quilts shop should be making eggnog and finishing up the stitching on their last homemade gifts, but when an arsonist strikes and a beloved teacher becomes a suspect, the ladies rally behind him to clear his good name. Will they succeed in time for hi
m to spend Christmas among loved ones or will this be a chilly winter for the town of Archers Rest?

See how overwhelming it is to visit the Houston Quilt Show.  There never seems to be enough time to take in all the amazing quilts.  With just a small sample of the quilts, here is how it can feel.

All proceeds from this annual auction support the Alliance's core project, Q.S.O.S., and make their participation in partner projects like The Quilt Index andQuilt Treasures possible.

To view the 29 quilts offered in Week One of the "Home" auction visit their Flickr page. Flickr galleries for weeks 2-4 will be available later this week.

Sherry Reynolds' quilt, America, Let It Shine, has won more awards. She has taken the Grand Prize at the International Quilt Festival in HoustonCongratulations Sherry! Can't wait to see what you do next.

Some of the other shows where her quilt has won awards include the AQS Lancaster show, where it won Best Machine Workmanship and at the Machine Quilters Exposition, where it won Best of Show. This quilt is no stranger to awards and in this quick interview taped at Road to California 2012, Sherry talks about winning Viewer's Choice at Road to California and also about the historical references in her quilt.

There was a harp right next to her quilt.  Sorry it is so loud.  It is not our added music.

5167_san_jose_museum_of_quilts_and_textiles.jpgThe 5th Annual High Fiber Under Five Exhibit is being held October 20 - November 4, 2012 at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles in San Jose, CA.

For the past four years High Fiber has been the Museum’s signature benefit art sale created to generate support for both fiber artists and the Museum. A juried exhibition, High Fiber is an inspiring showcase for a wide variety of textile art forms including quilts, jewelry, tapestries, wall-hangings, sculpture, and wearable art where fiber plays a prominent role. All of the art in this exhibition is for sale at $500 or less, with a designated percentage of the proceeds donated to the Museum.

An secondary exhibit, FiberShots, is an additional opportunity for the public to purchase fiber art. FiberShots will feature 15” x 15” artful fiber work—traditional and contemporary/non-traditional—that will be sold for $100, directly in support of the Museum.

Executive Director Christine Jeffers notes, "It is our mission to promote the craft and history of textile and fiber art. This event presents a broad representation of fiber art and allows members of the public to purchase a piece, take it home, and become advocates for fiber art."

Artists included are: Candice Abraham, B. J. Adams, Pamela G. Allen, Deborah E. Babin, Nancy L. Bardach, Stella K. Belikiewicz, Lynne Brotman, Leslie Carabas, Dotti Cichon, Sandra Palmer Ciolino, Linda J. Our friends at Gammill are having a contest and they want you to come up with a name and that's all we can say until tomorrow, October 27.  If your "name" is chosen you will Realize Your Dream.

We can say there is a great prize attached to the name and because it is from Gammill, you are going to love everything else attached to the name as well.

Come back tomorrow at 9:30am PST to The Daily Blog for the big announcement & details on how to enter and discover, "what's in a name?"

Please don't post comments to the Daily Blog today - there will be instructions tomorrow on how to enter the contest!
