Did you know that the Smithsonian held the National Quilt Collection?
"The National Quilt Collection incorporates quilts from various ethnic groups and social classes, for quilts are not the domain of a specific race or class, but can be a part of anyone’s heritage and treasured as such. Whether of rich or humble fabrics, large in size or small, expertly crafted or not, well-worn or pristine, quilts in the National Quilt Collection provide a textile narrative that contributes to America’s complex and diverse history. The variety and scope of the collection provides a rich resource for researchers, artists, quilt-makers and others. "
Every award-winning quilt deserves its accolades, but how could this wonderful quilt, All Together, by Hiroko Miyama and Masanobu Miyama, not win a ribbon at the International Quilt Festival in Houston?
After four years of filming, it's time to hit the edit room and make PIECED TOGETHER a reality. This is the first documentary to tell the story of Donna Sue Groves and the quilt square trails.
Donna Sue and Nina Maxine are thrilled to announce the launch of their KICKSTARTER campaign to raise finishing funds for the film.
They wrapped shooting in September 2013 and now that they are starting to "piece it together." They need YOUR help so that additional personnel can be brought on board for original music, graphics, and post-production editing and mastering of this film.
Here's how you can help:
Click HERE to learn more about the campaign and see the new TRAILER.
If you like what you see, they ask that you please contribute what you can. ANY amount is greatly appreciated.
More importantly, please EMAIL the link to your friends and family. LIKE them and POST the link on your Facebook, then go ahead and tweet about it. Get the word out and build our own #PiecedTogetherQuiltTrail!

Did you know that it is Longarm Month? How did Longarm Month get started? Here is the story:
Capt'n John- "I did a search to learn when longarm month was celebrated. September is Sewing Month. April is Serger Month. It turns out that there wasn't a Longarm Month. Sooooo, I invented it. Longarm month is officially November. Why? Because we say so. We need to celebrate the professional longarm artists and manufacturers that have brought us this amazing tool that has revolutionized the quilting industry.
I have started a new website at longarmmonth.org. The site is just coming alive and will grow now that I am back from Houston. We will have lessons, Company highlights, quilt pictures and more. Sharon Schamber is even sending us her new DVD to put up on the site later this month.
Here is how you can help me. Just click the button to visit the site. This will tell Google that the site is important and it will gain in search value. Visit the site a few times and check out the new information that will appear each week. Starting this weekend, you will be able to enter to win a Gammill Charm--their wonderful new sit-down longarm that will fit in almost any home.
