Having our noses to the grind stone, we were delighted to hear of a free outdoor concert in neighboring town Pleasanton. The band, Tommy and the Four Speeds, has an excellent reputation for the ability to deliver "oldies" right on the money! John packed the cooler and we met up with a few friends. I did not take my video recorder, but realized that my little digital could capture the essence of the event. Rumor has it, the guys in the band were best friends in High School, and the friendships continue strong to this day. (BTW:Guess who took this picture of me - I received it via email in the morning - moral of that story - you never know who´s watching LOLWink)

Last time I was in La Veta there was a big boat being built by a man whose heart is as big as his hat! If you have a dog in need of a home - I know just the place for it! I can´t give out the exact address - but just fedEx it to La Veta in care of Noah. Remember to poke holes in the box!

On the 4th of July, Alden Lane Nursery (home of Quilting in the Garden / QITG) was a glow with Wedding festivities. Who, you might be asking was tying the knot? Cyndee´s (my personal friend, fellow pirate and leader of QITG) son Matt and his beloved fiancee, Mia were celebrating in style. I told Cyndee anything she needed, she could count me in. First duty was to sew a tiny pocket for inside the wedding dress to hold a coin (sorry about the blurry picture), then on the 3rd it truly was "all hands on deck". The details were incredible. Things to take note of: The green rectangle was for the ring bearer - when finished it had pink ribbons securing the rings. The party favors were pink fire crackers in bags with pink and brown jelly bellies along with a candy bar - OH yes!!!. The cake was tiered cup cakes and guess who made the flower girls flower ball? Also, Mia´s parents are from Vietnam, and her Mom wore a traditional "long dress" - check out the fabric on that!! It was pleasure and honor helping behind the scenes - the amount of friendship, care and love in the air was intoxicating. The best part? I hear that across the United states fire works were displayed - now THAT was working out the details. OK - so this is not exactly quilt related, but honestly - who can´t resist a love story?

TQS Foreign Correspondent, Australian Pam Holland is a fantastic quilter and world traveler. Pam is also an accomplished photographer and works with her son, Jamie, who is a cinematographer and owns his own production company. But "Mexico Journey" is Pam´s work and we think you will love the colors and designs in this short video.

We encourage you to visit Pam´s website. There are portraits of quilts in progress and good quilting information as well as her blogs on travel. The site is one of Lilo´s favorites.

By the way, if you know Spanish, please tell us what the one quilter says to Ricky.

Also, don´t miss Episode 110 featuring Pam and her glorious work.

Last night was family dinner night. Adair announced her new energy plan - this weekend she bought herself a new set of wheels. She plans to cycle to class this next year weather permitting. Pop Pop has a helmet for her and she is good to go - Any road tips for Miss Anderson with her new mode of transportation?

I am in Ann Arbor for a Bernina gig at Viking Sewing Center on Monday. But in the meantime, my favorite Pirates are gathering at Captain Jacks House  - and the timing couldn´t be better (please do not tell Bernina of my alternative lifestyle! Cool). Even though my GPS works wonders, it wasn´t hard to figure out which home was / is hosting the festivities!  My guess is that there won´t be many quilters attending - aaarrrrrrr

We love our sponsors and appreciate how hard they work on a daily basis. Today we were having a multiple person phone conference with Superior Threads, when Bob The Thread Guy had to leave for a VERY important Friday meeting. Apparently, this meeting goes for two hours - and it is a must attend for all. We were so greatful that Bob sent us this link to this VERY IMPORTANT TOP SECRET weekly gathering.
