After reviewing all of our rooms - I am struck by many of the similarities - like the white furniture. Any other thoughts?

In one portion of the exhibit they had a transparent glass ceiling.  Chihuly glass pieces were placed on the ceiling and lights shone down from above.

The answers to the questions are San Francisco, the de Young Museum, and The Chihuly Exhibit.  Dale Chihuly is a marvelous artist working mainly in glass.  The objects are colorful, diverse, huge in many cases, and magical.  To give you good quality pictures, I can't use the animator. so I will show them in a series of blogs.  (Etiquette demands, because of our shared history, that I must first caution you that Dale is NOT a pirate.)

This is a picture (of a picture) of Chihuly at work.

Here is a different angle on the piece outside the de Young as you enter.

Here is the first exhibit.  Very striking.  You just want to pull up a chair and sit and look.  No chair was offered so come back for more pictures tomorrow.

So, we are at the tapings in Colorado and Lilo, the TQS Wizard, tells me about something I have to see.  She loves it and it is amazing.  So I talked Alex's parents into going with me. (Alex is in Dallas tonight).  So where did Lilo send me?  From these pictures, can you figure out the City?  By the way, the apartments on the side of the hill were the second place Alex and I lived after we were married.

I then give you a hint of where I was if you are a local.  Then I give you a big hint of what I saw.  Come back tonight for the pictures.  Lilo was right, it was spectacular.  Even with my photographic skills you will enjoy the show.--John

It was Alex who got to pick theme day this year. Guess what she picked? Yup - Pirate Day! Shiver me timbers and blow me down if we didn't have such a great time. We even came up with a new pirate chant: "Two and an eight, two and an eighth!" You will be enlightened on this in Series Four, but just be sure, Alex will never forget that measurement again! Enjoy!

Oh - and Miss Elly Sienkiewicz's show will not have pirates, but she sure put on a good show for us when she arrived in her bonnet.

I love open house Sunday in Livermore, you know - when houses on the market are opened for inspection. I thought, what fun to see where we, the TQS family, quilts. After reviewing the pictures in your profiles - I was struck with the diversity of our community - from a Mom with a one year old under foot (I remember those days!!) - to brand new construction in progress. Loved the decorations and appreciated the challenges (like our kitties) - over the next few days, I will blog YOUR rooms and perhaps YOUR quilting solutions will make their way into another TQS's studio! Thanks everyone !!!!
