NOW what is Alex up to????....YOU tell the story.
Fraser Smith is a sculptor of wood. This is a photograph of his wood quilt "Square Dance" prior to being stained, as well as the finished work. He uses watercolors and oil-based pigments to create his astounding pieces of art.
This piece, "Floating" was acquired by the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. It is made of carved wood and watercolors and is 65" x 42" x 4". To see more of Fraser's amazing work, please visit his website at www.gofraser.com.
TQS Member, Barbara Acchino, has done it again with one of her many collections (remember the Aprons and the Thimbles) related to quilting and sewing. This is a collection of ceramic houses including everything from a seamstress home to a tailor shop, Jo-Ann Fabrics, and a Thimbleberry's quilt shop. One of these days Barbara is going to have to show us her closet collection so we can figure out where she stores everything.
Just click on the video to wander around her village.
TQS is ready to hit the Road to California Quilter's Conference and Showcase. Here's your chance to see the 2010 pieced BOM, Star Crazy and the 2010 Applique BOM, Hugs and Kisses. Making a guest appearance will be the 2009 BOM, Stars for a New Day. Once you've seen these beautiful quilts in person, you'll want to drop what you are doing and order your 2010 BOM kit right there. Or, you can stop by the TQS Shoppe right now to order.
Also in the booth you'll have the opportunity to sign up to win an AccuQuiltGo!
And if that's not enough, Alex will be having a trunk show on Saturday night, If Only Her Quilts Could Talk... You'll get to see her quilts and hear the stories behind them. She'll even let you touch them if you want to.

Some people might say you and your small group of quilting friends are obsessed, but in reality, you all just love quilting and love being together. You've had a ritual for years of traveling together to a particular quilting event--maybe even more than one--or perhaps you go somewhere different every year. Do you all wear something that identifies your group? What are your favorite destinations? The Quilt Life, Ricky and Alex's new magazine is looking to feature just such a group. Tell everyone about your merry band of quilting die-hards, in 100 words or less, at The Quilt Life blog here.
We loved our show with Eleanor Burns - she is a VERY funny and inspirational lady (and she gave Ricky Stripping lessons - it's true!) who has helped shaped the industry as we know it today. - Now it's your turn to hang with Eleanor. Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson's magazine, The Quilt Life, wants to know if you could ask Eleanor Burns just one question what would it be? PLEASE GO HERE to submit your question for consideration in the magazine -
The TQS "Who Made These Quilts" Contest was great fun, and we thought you might enjoy knowing who did make those quilts. A great number of entrants had all the right answers. Some of you were even clever enough to figure out that Barbara Olson's quilt was upside down. And now, chosen entirely by random (even though you won't believe it), the winner of the TQS Goodie bag is.............Karen Wheeler!
A lot of entries came very close. The most common error was thinking Artist 6 was Sue Garman.

Back in April 2009, Ricky requested help in cleaning up his studio. As you can see in the original blog, he wasn't kidding.
But you TQS members came through as usual and gave him some great tips for cleaning up his act.
