This week's Quilt of the Week was selected by Ruth.  She must have been in an outdoor mood, as the quilt is "Ducks by the Lake" by TQS Member, Duffy.  Duffy is one of our international members from Heist-op-den-Berg, ANTWERPEN Belgium.  She has been quilting since 1989 and is also into bags of all shapes and sizes.

To learn more about Duffy and to see her quilts and bags, not to mention her work on the BOM, just click here.

Read about TQS and the winner of a Bernina 820 in "Local Quilter Sews Up Worldwide Contest" by Sherrie Norris of All About Women of the High Country (www.aawmag.com) March/April 2010.

Sherrie has written a wonderful article about TQS and recent Bernina winner, Joan Piercy.

Here's a snippet,

"As the world’s first full-service interactive online video/Web magazine created just for quilters worldwide, the show is the first quilting series to be shot in front of a live audience and features instruction, entertainment and insights into the lifestyles of well known quilt personalities. The ever-evolving Web site offers its members a multitude of opportunities including a daily blog, forum chat rooms and the world's largest online gallery that allows viewers to locate quilts all over the world."

We at TQS are always amazed at who the quilting bug bites! Who is the most "unlikely" quilter you have ever met? (and I certainly hope "she" doesn't think this machine is up for grabs)

WSJ TruckerA recent article in the Wall Street Journal was brought to our attention by appliqueann.  It caught her eye because the story was about truckers who had more time on their hands now that there were fewer loads to carry.  One trucker's wife thought quilting might be a useful hobby to help him pass time.

According to the article by Jennifer Levitz, "By August, they had outfitted his truck's sleeper cabin with a $179 sewing machine, supplies, and a starter's pattern. "Boy, let me tell you, I created a monster," the trucker's wife said.

To learn more about some of the truckers, including one who knits, here's a link to the article in the WSJ.

It's Monday and you need to get your brain working.  Quilters love color but can you remember which color flashed and in what order?  It starts out easy and gets harder.  You may continue to play as long as you like.

Important!!!   To Start the Game click on the upper left color 3 times.  The game will say you are wrong. Then click Continue and watch the colors flash.  Click them in the same order they flashed.  Have Fun!
