Jerome by Margot McDonnell won First Place, Art Pictorial at Road to California 2013. It was created from a photo she took in the old mining town of Jerome, AZ. She hand appliquéd, painted, penciled, penned, netted, and hand embroidered the quilt to give the house and surroundings a textured, weather look.

from the use of perspective to the increasing intensity of color as you come to the sidewalk is beautiful.

Love this quilt. My mother was born in Jerome in 1925. I live in Arizona and have been to Jerome with my mom many times, she showed me where my grandparents lived, my grandfather worked the mines. I was able to take my kids and grandkids and show them where my mom was born and lived.

The details on this quilt are amazing! There is a lot of variety in the surface design. It really does show the abandonment of the building.

This is stunning. I too do pictorial quilts, but not to this standard I’m afraid.
