Win 2 free tickets to the biggest quilt event in New York City this fall-Quilters Take Manhattan on September 15, 2012. One lucky winner and a friend will be out guest at this 2nd annual event presented by the nonprofit Quilt Alliance. Here's the scoop:
- Saturday, September 15 from 1-5 pm at FIT in the heart of the NYC fashion district.
- Denyse Schmidt will be interviewed by Mark Lipinski for the Alliance’s oral history project, Quilters’ S.O.S. – Save Our Stories.
- Next Jennifer Chiaverini will talk about the new book in her Elm Creek Quilts series “The Giving Quilt,” then take questions from the audience.
- See quilts from Denyse and Jennifer, and also preview the 2012 Alliance contest quilts (up for auction in November).
- Beverages and a sweets buffet.
- A lively silent auction.
Don’t miss the After Dark party from 7:30-9:30 pm to be held at the home and studio of Victoria Findlay Wolfe co-founder of the New York City Metro Area Modern Quilt Guild and owner of Bumble Beans, Inc. This won’t be your typical wine and cheese fundraiser—guests will have a chance to create an improvisational quilt while being serenaded to fiddle tunes played by longtime Quilt Alliance champion Alan Jabbour!
