TQS recently visited the AQS Show in Des Moines.  Here is a view of the amazing exhibit  The Quilting Tradition - Amish & English. To the Amish, any non-Amish person is called "English."  The handwork on some of these quilts is astounding. (Thank you to Carol Moellers for being our TQS photographer.)

TQS Member, Barbara Acchino, has done it again.  This time she is sharing her collection of vintage aprons with sewing motifs.   There are handkerchief aprons, embroidered aprons, and those made of organdy and tulle.  Barbara also included a few surprises.  Do these bring back any memories?   For more information, Barbara has provided an interesting article entitled "Sew, What's Cooking?" The Making Memories Foundation gives wishes to breast cancer patients. These imaginative quilts, made from bridal gowns, were donated to raise funds for this wonderful cause.

When an artist paints on canvas, they are done when they finish painting. Not so for artists who paint on quilts. After the painting is done, there is a lot of work left to do. These quilts are painted with ink, dyes, and thread. Look for all our friends you have met along the way. How did they all end up in Ricky's category?

At PIQF there were quite a few classes and about 18 special exhibits. Included here is just a peek into the classrooms and exhibits from teachers and quilters such as Sue Nickels, Robbi Joy Eklow, Marjan Kluepfel, Christine Porter, and Liz Berg. There is also interesting work from some of our very own Quilt Show members.
