Trailer

Prepare to be inspired! In 2008, during a dark period in her life, artist Lisa Sipes was encouraged by her mom to give quilting a try—and a passionate new quilter was born. Now a well-regarded professional longarm artist who loves detailed work, Lisa shares fun ways to add visual and textural interest to a wholecloth quilt with a variety of stitches and colored threads. She also shows how she creates her signature "triple stitch" and alternative ways to finish the edges of your quilt. We end by visiting with the amazing and inspirational Nola Emerie, who—after suffering a massive stroke at age 52 that paralyzed the right side of her body—decided to take up quilting. You won’t want to miss this.

I too came to quilting after a stroke left me unable to continue the life I was living. Although I am not in Nola's league, I enjoy the therapeutic effects of fabric!
I truly believe that life is 10% what happens and 90% how you look at it and deal with the aftermath. Blessings

I am a retired nurse and lifelong quilter. Currently I am working as a volunteer leading a support group for stroke survivors and their caregivers. I found both these stories inspirational.. .and not just because of their obvious quilting skills. Nola's story would be a good one to show our group. Is it available on video to purchase?

What an inspiring story! Thanks for sharing it! I hope I am always able to quilt, no matter what comes my way. Actually, I learned to quilt while house bound with my dad who had a brain tumour. We couldn't leave him home alone, so mom suggested we make a quilt while we sat at home for hours, days, weeks. That's when the quilt bug bit!

My greatest fear is that someday I may not be able to quilt.. It means that much to me. Thanks to Nola's story I know that I WILL find some way to continue to stitch no matter any obstacle.
