Featured item "Bumblebee and Coneflowers" by Carol Morrissey

"Bumble Bee and Coneflowers" was created by Carol Morrissey.  Her love of nature has had an enormous impact on her quilting. It propelled her from making traditional quilts to creating realistic images of flora and fauna. Carol shows you how to add details to objects (in this case, a bee) using paint and inks in Show 1908: Postcards and Photorealism.

Our bad! Carol named it correctly and we mistyped it as corn flowers. We changed it. Thank you for the heads up.

Continuing the flowers by stitching out into the border is perfect. Great quilt, the bumblebee is precious!

Wonderful color, design and quilting. I especially love the quilting of the flowers which is continued into the border == great idea.

So who cares if there was a typo on the flower name. The point is the quilt is awesome and that's probably the more important thing to focus on Gwen Love how she stitched onto the border to continue the flowers. Great job!!!!!!

It's an exquisite piece of work. I particularly like the rose/pink colors the quilter has used in this project. And the transparency of petals in the border is genius.
But Gwen C. is correct, those are cone flowers. Corn flowers have a leaf structure somewhat similar to daffodils and the flowers are sort of bell-shaped with pointed petals. Both "cones" and "corns" are lovely.

That is not a cornflower. It is an echinacea flower or cone flower.
