TQS Fall 2010 Quilter’s Choice Contest Rules How would you like to win money—as much as $300!—for your original fabric creation? With the holidays just around the corner, those winnings could go a long way toward the purchase of something special on your wish list. Here’s the challenge: Come up with a project in the format of your choice, such as a wallhanging, table runner, or set of placements, that expresses the glories of autumn. It’s a time of bountiful harvest, so set your imagination free. Your project can be made from cotton, wool, silk, or the fiber of your choice. Theme: Autumn (e.g., plants, animals and/or birds, landscapes, foods of the season, color palette, etc.) Dates: Contest runs from October 18, 2010- December 15, 2010 Prizes: 1st place-$300, 2nd place-$200, 3rd place-$100 Determination of Winners: TQS members will select their six favorites, and the three prize-winning entries will be chosen from those member favorites by ARJJ. The three prize-winners must agree to allow TQS to publish their complete pattern on the TQS Project page as a free project. Notification of Winners: The three prizewinners will be notified via email by December 18, 2010 and will be announced in the December 21 eNewsletter/Daily Blog. All six finalists will appear in Weekend Fun. Contest Rules: •This contest is open to all TQS members (Basic/Star). •You may submit more than one entry. •All entries must be submitted by December 15, 2010 to be considered. •Entries can be any shape—square, round, rectangular—but must have a minimum total perimeter of 120”, but not to exceed 250”. •All entries MUST be the original work of the artist or a collaborative original work by no more than two artists. •Each entry must be constructed of fabric consisting of at least two layers (e.g., for a wool project) or three layers—a front, back, and an inner layer of fabric or batting—for a quilted project. All layers must be secured together with stitching. •Unfinished entries will not be considered. •You may embellish your project as desired. •TQS retains the right to use images of accepted work for promotional purposes. Copyright of work remains with the artist. •All entries will be posted in our Show and Tell area. Submit your entries in the TQS Quilter’s Choice Contest in Show and Tell here.
