Geisha's Nightmare - This one-block wonder quilt uses hexagonal blocks made of two colorways of the print fabric "Zen Charmer". In this quilt I used multicolored blocks and the more disturbing images (snakes, skulls). The complementary quilt is "Geisha's Daydream".
Birds in a Blender - The "background" is made up of small squares of a really loud tropical print with toucans, parrots, etc. At some point -- don't hold your breath -- the plan is for snakes or something to be appliqued in the borders; I'm sort of working on a Garden of Eden-type theme, hence the apple-fabric in the borders.
Trinity Church - This art quilt is of the Trinity Church, one of 7 church ruins in St. Kevin's Monastery City, Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. See it at the - ShawCramerGallery.com

Scrappy Stars - This red, black and white pattern appealed to me because the high school, college and university my son had graduated from had combinations of these colors. This will be his graduation present next December when he graduates with his masters in Physics.
My Favorite Quilt Shop in Green Bay, Wisconsin will train you and let you rent time on their Nolting long arm quilt machine. Since this quilt was larger than I'm use to I tried long arm quilting for the first time. It was an interesting expereince. I did get the entire quilt done in 5 hours time.
Cathie's Scrap Legacy - Used a pack of fat quarters left to me by my sister. She purchased them while we were on a Quilt Seminars At Sea cruise to Alaska the summer before she died.
California Rattler - I started making this as a study in color - the cool colors with the dark of night nad the warms against the white of day. It took on a life ot its own and wnded up jsut being fun.

Octavia - Using a photo of a little house across the street from my Son in New Orleans, I created the blocks with Kaleidoscope Kreator software. They were printed on dupioni silk. The entire quilt is silk. It is heavily quilted with Superior tri-lobal poly thread.
Dick & Sweetpea - I took a class from Sue from Dog Gone Quilts. She taught us how to make our own patterns fromour own photos.. What a fun class..This is from a photo (in corner) of my husband Dick and his horse Sweetpea. Dick has a antique cowboy hat on and Sweetpea has a 1920s horshair bridle on....What fun this was..
Autumn Stars - Another quilt for my new book Innovations and Renovations: String Quilts. I love making Star quilts, and I really loved quilting the oak leaves in the black squares on this one. It will definitely be a quilt we will use on our bed as soon as we're done with the photography process.
Thanksgiving Banner - I hand appliqued the design on the table runner and decided that the table runner was to long and bare in the middle. I cut it in half so I could make two wall hanging banners. One for my house and one for my grandchildren's house.
Orange Stars - Scrappy; inspired by Charlotte Angotti's "Favorite Things". Joanie Weeden taught a workshop at a retreat in Bastrop in 2005. It was inspired by Charlotte Angotti's "Favorite Things" class which she taught for AAQG a few years ago. This quilt was my workshop project that grew and grew! What fun!
Love & Honor - This quilt was made for my loving cousin Danny. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a big history buff. I wanted to honor him with an original flag with 13 stripes. This top was pieced, quilted & bound in a day. Quilted for a man with a big laugh & a big soft heart.
