Bad Bad Rooster
Name of Maker: Shari Ortega
Bad Bad Rooster - I got Chickens for my grand daughter to make money for college. (she was 3 when I got these chickens, but I know she will make there someday). The Rooster that came with the girls was a mystery( freebee). He was the meanest thing.. so she called it her bad bad rooster(hence the name of the quilt). He really did look like this... that eye follows you around, and so did his.. He is gone now, but I made this so she will always know her first rooster. He is constructed by laying each piece down and quilting over it on my longarm. The ends of the feathers are loose so they shake like they did on him. All of this was constructed with a white piece of fabric I drew the rooster on and layed the fabrics on top of each other until it "looked" like I wanted.. just like painting but with fabrics..
Boston Blackie
Name of Maker: Shari Ortega
Boston Blackie - One of my three cats was "found" in my trash can looking for food.. He was very skinny, almost starved. Well, two months in the garage, to get fattened up and away from my other cats, a trip to the vets to be vaccinated and nuetered, he is now my biggest baby. There is not one white hair on him and unless he looks right at you in the dark you cannot see him.. this is the most loving cat, loves to go for a ride in the car.. (I just open the door and he comes running to go along),does not get out until I tell him it is okay. He never gets on anything but his beds or "his" chair and has to sit near me all the time.. I love this cat,so HAD to make a quilt of him.
Name of Maker: Shari Ortega
"The Disconnect" - I had just found out a few days before this class my dh has Parkinsons. The feelings of frustrations and unreality show in the colors.. the design just shows how disconnected you become from the real world. It could also show some lostness associated with alzheimers too..like the packman of the 70's just taking away your life piece by piece..

Stars & Stripes 2
Name of Maker: Teresa Parizo
Stars & Stripes 2 - I found this block on Fabric Stash Blocks website. Original colors for this block were red and blue. This is my color scheme of browns and deep reds, using my fabrics in my stash materials. I turned it on end to make a different effect. This is the second one made. Unlike the first this one has a brown edge and back. The first one has a floral edge and back.

Quilter Reborn
Name of Maker: Gwen Williams
Quilter Reborn - The very first quilt I made (18 years ago) was a lonestar quilt. After a 10 year break from quilting, the quilt class offered by Cynthia Clement at Honey Bee Quilt Store got me excited about quilting again. The class helped me with fabric selection for the lonestar & taught how to use the quiltsmart grids. This is my first attempt at creating my own pattern (I designed the borders) to finish the top. Hopefully this will be the first of many "originals" I create.
