Mom's New York Beauty
Name of Maker: Barb Tazelaar
Mom's New York Beauty - This quilt is very similar to one I made for myself about 4 years ago. My Mom loves mine and wanted one that would match her dining room. She even wanted the same border fabric as mine. I was able to find enough at a wonderful shop called "The Quilted Moose" in Gretna, NE about 4 or 5 years after it was made. Mom didn't know the quilt was being worked on so it was a wonderful surprise.
Scrappy Scooby

With love to my Vilde - My quild gave us a pattern of an heart to do applique this year. I made some blocks with this heart an started to play a little. I did not know what I whanted it to be . I was also at the same time thinking of making a bedcover for my dauther and suddently this quilt grew from a table quilt to a single bed quilt to my dauther. I used foto transfer on my printer. There are 8 pitcures of Vilde in the quilt. I used "quilt as you go" technique.

Amish Rendition

Amish Rendition - This was a Block of the Month done at Old Town Quilts, Keller, TX. A qirl, Michelle, wanted to learn to sew and quilt but didn't know how to do either. I began teaching her what I know and we did the Block of the Month together. She is coming along quite well although she has never finished her quilt. Our goal is to get her to finish hers this coming year.
Advent Calendars
Name of Maker: Deb Bowers
Advent Calendars - I had to make two of these Advent Calendars so each of our children's families could have one. We have 5 grandchildren (3 in one family and 2 in the other) so it was quite a challenge to find gifts small enough to fit 3 in each of the 3"x3" pockets. Since we were shipping them, I had to seal each pocket with darning thread tied at one end so the items would not fall out (it also keeps prying eyes out before the appropriate day). I'm not really into hand embroidery, I had originally intended for these calendars to be ready for Christmas 2008, unfortunately, I didn't get them done until a few days ago - just in time to get them to the kids by December 1st of 2009. They really did turn out cute. What a great pattern - if I ever make another one though, I think I'll do machine embroidery or just print the pictures onto material instead of doing the hand embroidery :).

Nessun Dorma
Name of Maker: Mark Sherman
Nessun Dorma - Nessun Dorma (no rest) was completed in 2007. This quilt was a labor of love ( 3 year project). It is machine paper pieced ( original pattern ) with hundreds of differnt fabrics of various color values. The curvie blocks were machine pieced together and the entire designs was pieced into a large single piece background fabric. All I can tell you is that you may not want to attempt this project. I am gald that I finished what I started but would never do this again. The quilt was professionally longarm quilted by Carol Selepec ( Eleanor Burns cousin ).
