Dad's quilt - Made this quilt for my dad who used to be a racing cyclist in his younger days!
On the front of the quilt is his picture.
On the back are pictures from his idol a Belgian world champion racing cyclist Eddy Merckx.
Batik Wheel - This was started in 2008 but finished in 2010. It was waiting for quilting ideas and that came when I brought my 730e. The circles are quilted in the hoop (first for me). The cable was drafted by me using Alex's wonderful classroom video and book. I used the BSR with a YLI varigated thread on my machine for the first time to quilt a quilt versus practicing. It's not perfect but not bad for the first time.
Bailey Pop - This quilt was created for my guild's "Fine Art Challenge". I selected Andy Warhol's "Marilyn Monroe Series" as the inspiration for the piece. Bailey was a very happy, inspiring dog and my most loyal friend for 18 wonderful years.
There Will Always Be A Spring - After a long difficult year, I needed to remind myself that there will "always be a spring" and that it was my attitude towards change that was holding me back. This quilt is constructed with a pieced background, raw edge applique, and dimensional beaded hand painted flowers. The tree is heavily thread sketched.
Peg's Boxy Stars - This quilt was made as a mystery quilt by my Iowa Quilter's group. We also exchanged 2 1/2 fabric strips for the quilt but used our own sashing and border.
Faberge - I made this from a kit by Ginny Beyer and learned a lot doing it. I love the 3 dimensional look. Now I have to decide how to quilt it - may just stitch in the ditch so I don't change the 3-D look.
Simple Elegance - A pattern testing in its final stage (original pattern but not mine). My first finished Baltimore Album top - patiently waiting for me to finish my hand quilting practice!
To the Beach! - This quilt was created for the Downey Touch of Comfort program that provides quilts to kids hospitalized for serious and terminal illness. The Quilts for Kids group will provide you with the fabric - you just have to add the batting, binding and some love!
Nature's Lace - Tropical rainforests are a much endangered, very sensitive and delicate web of life. I made this quilt, to raise a higher awareness to protect flora and fauna within the rainforests of this world.
This quilt is currently traveling for APWQ and will be available on aution at Quiltfest in Summer 2011, Tacoma/WA.
Flor de la Mar - This quilt was made with the early Portugese navigators in mind. It tells the story of a sunken caravelle at the coast of Sumatra.
It was first entered in "Challenge 2007" at Innovations/Tacoma, WA. Much more quilting has been added at a later point in 2008.
Peeking Out - I bought the batik faces at Houston Quilt Festival in 2008 and loved Ricky Tims' Convergence Quilts so I thought I would just dive in and try it. I loved the effect and my cousin, Cindy, loved it too.
Batik Snowflakes - These batik shapes remind me of coloful snowflakes. I made this quilt for my husband and our wonderfully colorful Destin home. He loves it!
Jenice's Love Qult - I made this "Love Quilt" for the TQS challenge. This was my first art quilt...I used trapunto, free motion quilting, fabric transfer, crazy patch and decorative stitching. The thread was Superior thread.
Natty's Quillow - This is a picture of the folded Quillow. It is lost or stolen and was last seen in Newmarket UK.
My daughter is devaststed by this loss.
Natty's Quillow - This quilt was made for my daughter who was working in the horse racing industry. She had to leave due to domestic violence. This quilt is now lost or stolen. One very upset daughter.
My Star - I'ts a quilt I'am working have not finished it yet, the date on the picture is not right I didn't no how to take off or change date, it was my father's camera. He's not with us no more
Blues for Mom - This was a Christmas gift for my mother, who asked for something blue. I didn't have it quite finished in time, so she unwrapped a basted quilt on Christmas Day. I brought it back home and took another six weeks to quilt it. She plans to re-do her guest room around it!
