Sunflowers - Created in a class with Helen Godden this peice is hand painted and machine appliqued and quilted. The tiny dragonfly was attached last - a gift from Helen - gone but not forgotten!
Hubcap - Inspired by TQS blog 1/15/11 "Inspiration at the Auto Show." I wanted to use my 9-degree wedge rulers again, but didn't have any new ideas. Thanks, TQS!!
Sunflowers to Windmills - Driving across Kansas, weird thoughts come up. Where did those windmills come from? Were they planted? Maybe they're sunflowers that grew really big.
Flight Dreams - This 20x20" quilt is currently touring in Vapor Trails and Quilt Tails show honoring 100 years of naval aviation. It was made for my nephew, a navy aviator who took us to see the Blue Angels in Pensacola, FL.
Trip to Trinidad - Fabric and pattern by Starr Designs. I added the appliques in the lower corners. These are hand dyed fabrics in rich jewel tones. Having been to Trinidad during Carnival I just had to make this quilt as a remembrance of the beautiful colors we saw while there.
Diana's Texas Quilt - My sister asked me to design and make her a Texas quilt...this is what I came up with. She was overseas in Saudi Arabia with her husband and had one room decorated with everything Texas. She loves the quilt.
Jackie's Star Quilt - My neice picked out these fabrics and I designed the quilt based on the star block that she liked...she helped throughout the design process...I took this quilt apart 4 times as she did not like how it looked...finally hit on a winner with this..thank goodness.
Dad's Quilt - I found these religious panels at Hobby Lobby and thought they would make a lovely lap quilt for my father. I gave this to him for his 79th birthday...he was so happy because I finally made him a quilt.
Almost Heaven Lodge Sampler - Using assorted fabrics from my “stash” was the great fun in creating this quilt. I chose muted colors that give it a rustic, antique, folk-art feel. Inspiration from Grandma’s Country Album (McCall’s Quilting) by Robert Callaham. I followed his instructions to make the inner border.
Grandmother's flower quilt - I have no idea of the source of this quilt pattern. I know that my Grandmother quilted with a friend, when my mother was a small child, and this was one of the quilts they quilted together.
Autumn Leaves - This is a practice piece to help me learn to use my lovely bernina and to try out some of the hints & tips I've learnt from the quilt show and books. Better keep practicing!!
Grandmother's tulip quilt - Made by my maternal grandmother as a young woman. My mother had childhood memories of her mother quilting with a friend. In my "pink" phase as a teenager, I was allowed to have this quilt on my bed.
