Smoothing Iron - I made this quilt for a graduation present.

Split Nine Patch - This quilt came about in my effort to use up my scraps. I have made two of this pattern. The block is the traditional split nine patch block from Scrap Quilts by Judy Martin.

Carrie Nation - I was inspired to make this quilt after seeing this pattern on Squares.

Australian Wildlife - I made this quilt to commemorate my niece's trip to Australia and New Zealand. The quilt design is original but the redwork animals are from Australian Patchwork and Quilting magazine.

River of Light - This is a form of quilt as you go. I cut the backing and batting at the same time, start sewing on the strips to this foundation. Thus the squares are quilted as they are made. I then cut sashing strips to connect the blocks together.

Beach Cottages - Purchased pattern with adaptation and added appliques.

From the ashes - The pattern is for reverse applique. I changed the procedure by using black bias tape to outline pieces. Some of the flames were hand dyed. This quilt hangs in my brand new kitchen every spring.

Ulu - My current WIP---custom-hand-dyed cotton sateen that radiates from clear, bright red to a very deep burgundy....This was custom dyed by Jeanette Viviano of West Linn, Oregon. It took me 7 days to cut and baste this one, and another cuistom-dyed one that is original.... I hope to get all the needle-turn applique done this year...this will be held for Stella Melia...perhaps her Wedding Quilt? Not sure yet....

Let it SNOW - I saw this wonderful quilt on the front of a book (SnowFlake Follies by Terry Martin) but was disappointed that it was just a Wall quilt. OH My gosh, I even have these fabrics in my stash. Oh the brain went to work and so did my sewing machine. And I created this wonderful King-size quilt. Thanks Terry for the wonderful inspiration!

Eye of the Tiger - Quilt made for my guild's 2006 challenge "Hue and Cry" - colors were dictated by random assignment of paint chips.

Music of the Spheres - This quilt was the result of a commission from a dear friend who had recently retired after a lifetime (50 years) spent as organist and music director at my church. The colors were hers; the design was mine.

The Sun Never Sets/Commonwealth Lost - I started this quilt in a workshop with Carol Taylor at the National Quilt Museum in May. It was great fun to learn new piecing techniques and we had a terrific group of quilters in the class. The title of the quilt comes from the embellishment trim which features a "coin" with Queen Elizabeth on it. I was reminded of the phrase "The sun never sets on the British Empire", but of course, it did.

Sweet Treats Close up

Sweet Treats - I was in charge of our Guilds Challenge which was Sweet Treats. I took it a bit further than the 20x20 size and decided to make a rather large quilt that welcomed quilters to our "Sweet Treat" quilt show. A lot of the blocks were drawn by my husband Mark and the incredible quilting was done by a fellow guild member, Nancy Tatro.

Fuzzy Flowers - Designed in EQ5. Named by granddaughter when she saw the eyelash yarn in the middle of the flowers.
