Loose Roos - Machine pieced hand dyed cotton wallhanging quilt with hand dyed cotton fusible applique, hand embroidered including "A few kangaroos loose in the top paddock" text. (Australian slang for someone who is a bit scatty or crazy - "He has a few kangaroos loose in the top paddock".
Extensive machine quilting with specialty threads - gold for the sunset sky, variegated greens for the paddocks and variegated ochres for the surrounding outback land.
Brian's Pig quilt - Large Nap quilt. Size 54 X 69 - machine appliqued pigs on various cotton backgrounds. Machine quilted by John Putnam - Quilting included writing names of the pigs. I made up the names.
Jacki's Unicorn Quilt - Stack 'n' Whack in 5 purple and pink toned prints including a unicorn print. Sewn by overlocker. Intensively freehand machine quilted for Jacki's 7th birthday. A great opportunity to try freehand machine quilting, with a different pattern for each of the 5 different fabrics, including outline quilting the unicorns on one of the prints. Found a Sue Box Machine Embroidery design of a unicorn for the label and the centre of the remaining block that became a matching cushion.
Dun Aengus Stone Fort - Dun Aengus is a stone fort on the large Aran Island of Inishmore. The inspiration is from my photo and my memories. This quilt is on display in Denver, CO for all of May, advertising for the Downtown Denver Arts Festival, May 22 - 25, 2009. My booth will be #125. www.downtowndenverartsfestival.com
Quilt for baby girl - I have always loved Winding Ways. I bought templates at a quilt guild meeting and when I was asked to make a quilt for a friend's grandbaby I thought a small quilt was a good place to start. I love this block - there is something very soothing about the gentle curves and the circular motion.
Hearts of Americana - My first quilt blocks ever! Fussed with adding the last border, but did it because the pattern called for it. Just need to sandwich, quilt and bind it!
Orange-Green - Originally made as a class sample to show an analogous color scheme. Quilted on a long arm machine using a pebble design. Each pebble is about 3/8". It took about 7 hours to do the quilting.
Antioxidants - This was my first attempt at fabric collage for samples for a class offering. I enjoyed collecting the fabrics and using dome different techniques.
Queen of the Cats - I was making samples for a class I wanted to teach on fabric collage. I enjoyed working in this smaller format, even though I tend to prefer making useful quilts. This is a companion piece to another collage "Antioxidants".
California Rattler - I started making this as a study in color - the cool colors with the dark of night nad the warms against the white of day. It took on a life ot its own and wnded up jsut being fun.

Starry, Starry Night - Gift for (brother) Cam and Nat's "Engagement & House Warming". Their colour scheme is blues & greys and I found a Charm Square pack that exactly suited, and then needed a design. I saw this design at a UFO (UnFinished Objects) retreat weekend and it all came together.
The name combines the stars and the colours with the first line of the 70's popsong, "Vincent" - "Starry, starry night. Paint your palette blue and grey".
