Pacific Paraglider - I learned the Diamond technique in a workshop given by Jan Krentz to the Santa Clara Valley Quilt Association and applied the technique to a photo my son took as he was soaring over the Pacific cliffs.
Journey to PhD - Karen's road to PhD traveled through California, Minnesota, New Mexico and Costa Rica. The quilt is made of of star blocks from those states plus a block of Karen's own design.
Hawaiian Split 9 patch - Take a 5" squares- make 9 patch then cut down the middle and across the middle. Turn each quadrant 1/4" to the right and sew it back together. Looks like you really did a lot of work. So easy a caveman could do it. (Sorry Ricky- LOL) Made this for my 41 year old son in queen size.
Underground Railroad - The children's book, The Secret to Freedom, by Marcia Vaughn, illustrated by Larry Johnson, inspired me to make a quilt using 12 of the blocks traditionally associated with the Underground Railroad.
Space Ramble - This class was started in David Walker class. It was a first for me in: using couching, using speciality fabrics, freehand cutting my pieces.
Best Friends - I appliqued this with the thought that my best friend, Diana, and I are as close as the blossoms shown...I also gave it to her to supplement our Challenge 2007 quilt top wherein we exchange 1 yard of fabric to be made into a quilt top...lap size...she is going to add to this to make a lap quilt for her living room
Breakfast? - This quilt was designed using Tammie Bowser's Quilted Photo Xpress software. I love classic movies and this has alway been one of my favorites.
Pride of the West Hills - The Pittock Mansion has been restored and is a wonderful place to visit and to take guests from out of town. The piece was completed as part of a guild challenge to "Show Off Oregon".
Angeli Cacdato Di Venezie (Fallen Angels of Venice - Inspired by the book "Venice, The City of Fallen Angels." It depicts the 1996 fire of the Fenice Opera House.
