Bears in the North Country - This pattern is a bear paw block, with a twist. The entire quilt, including one of the borders, is paper-pieced. For fun, there are stars across the quilt between the twisted bear paws.
Cat's Meow - Calendar cats were scanned and printed on Printed Treasures fabric. There are two cats for each month of the year. Each cat block was s.i.d. and outlined the cat. Sashings and borders were free handed with cat paws and the word meow.
Lagniappe - Carefully pieced boats are placed in rows of watery fabric. One poor boat is upside down. Dark red prints used for boat bodies. Maritime flags in corners spell out owner's last name.
Solider Quilt - While on guild retreat a member suggested everyone make a split 9patch block to make a solider quilt. Before retreat was over blocks were made and top was put together. Ft. Worth Quilt Guild makes and sends finished quilts to wounded soliders - When finished this top will make it's way to Brooks Army hosiptal in San Antonio, TX.
Bill's Quilt - Bill selected the majority of the fabrics in Oklahoma Quiltworks. Quilting pattern was taken from volume two of Sharon Schamber's books and enlarged.
Snowman Collector Quilt - I started this BOM in 1999 - worked on blocks mostly at retreats and finally finished top in January 2007! Woo Hoo!!! Now let's see how long it will take me to Quilt It!! Will keep you posted.
Country Patriotic Stars - Blocks were chosen for block of the month program for Bluebonnet Area Quilt Guild. Each one is a star of some type. Only three fabrics were used - cream crackle background, red star and blue star.
Hugs Quilt - This quilt top was made by various members of the Fort Worth Quilt Guild to be given to a member for the loss of a loved one or severe illness. To date this top is in progress to be finished and given in time of need.
Mariners Compass - I just loved Mariner's compasses. The compass and border points were handpieced, while the larger construction was done on the machine. It is entirely machine quilted.
Paper (cut) Training - I appliqued this in about 8 months in 1999 and wanted to hand quilt it. The problem was I used Warm and Natural for the batting and have had a hard time needling it. So much so that I still haven't finished the borders. I'm determined NOT to let another Christmas go by without this being finished. We'll see.
My Christmas Quilt - This was machine pieced and hand quilted. I had the cut the center octagon off originally and couldn't get the side diamonds to fit, so I had to put this down for about 2 months before I could face straightening it out. But I eventually got it. The center is a hand quilted trapunto carnation with hand stippling all around it. it was fun to do.
Vacation Views - Each window contains a family vacation photo, scene of places we visited, or other travel-related themes, in this quilt I made to thank my dad for family vacations all over the US when we were young. He loves it!
