Purple Jewel
Name of Maker: Sue Scheper
Purple Jewel - I made this quilt at a retreat after a friend showed me the uneven four patch square in a square technique that she learned from a Ricky Tims workshop. I received a stack of hand dyed squares and decided that this would be a perfect use for them. The purple in the solid is my favorite color. I machine quilted this by free motion connecting circles.
Yin and Yang
Name of Maker: Sue Scheper
Yin and Yang - I love oriental fabrics so I decided to make this quilt as a wall hanging for my foyer. The circles are machine appliqued. After auditioning hundreds of fabrics for the border, I decided to make this sort of greek key black and white. I'm very happy with the outcome.
Remembering Crater Lake
Name of Maker: LeAnn Harner
Remembering Crater Lake - This quilt uses non-traditional fabrics and 10 different threads to create perspective and dimension. All of the embroidery was done via machine using free motion. The front-most trees were embroidered on tulle and water-soluble stabilizer, then attached. The tree on the right took nearly 9 hours to embroider - all free motion. Aurifil Lana Wool thread and Superior's Razzle Dazzle gave this tree extra depth and texture.
