Framing Flowers - I wanted to make a quilt for my mother's 80th birthday and she loves her garden so a Kaffe Fassett designed fabric was the perfect choice. I love the pattern so did not want to cut it up so decided to use it in a blocked design.
Lucky - Small wall hanging I designed using the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software- you can read all the details at http://www.sewwithkelly.com/2014/03/speed-applique-design-first-video.html
Thank You Libby - The best class I've ever taken was taught by Libby Lehman in which she taught us the ins and outs of making circles. Since that time I've been thinking about making a quilt like this tho I never found my roundtuit to design one so when I saw this kit I knew I had found the answer -- Libby's great design and Ricky's wonderful fabrics made this a fun quilt to make -- I got to decide which fabrics to put where and which fancy stitches to use so it is uniquely mine. THANKS LIBBY! AND RICKY!
Pixie Dust - This quilt was made for my Niece who lives in California. I used Trapunto in the middle to accentuate the pixies and some flowers. It is heavily quilted with feathers, bubbles and leaves.
Sunrise-Sunset - This little quilt is a wall hanging I designed and built for an on-line class for Academy of Quilting (.com). It's an off-shoot of a solar eclipse quilt I made with marbled fabric. Since it's almost impossible to teach hand marbling on line, I came up with this version done with fabric and Sharpie markers. What can I say, I love to doodle and this quilt really reflects that. The flames are made by scribbling on fabric with markers - hence the name for the class "Marker Mania."
Mrs. Lindberg's Neighborhood - This started out as a block swap but after a few months everyone lost interest except me. I made the additional blocks (70 plus) and designed and added the borders. This quilt was on tour with the International Quilt Festival for two years in the Special Exhibit "Text on Textiles". So glad to have it back home.
Mt. Adams in Fabric - I took a class from June Jaeger at the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in 2013, "Your Land, My Land." I have always wanted to learn how to make one of my photographs into a quilt and I finally got my chance. June is a wonderful teacher. The photograph was taken in Trout Lake, WA, which is a very special place we visit every fall with our RV group.
In Honor of Amy's 60th - I made this for my sister's birthday. Although we live far apart, we are very close. The shoes are red cotton fabric with embellished tulle appliquéd over after fusing.
Olif's quilt and Lachlann's quilt - In March 2013 my daughter had twin boys, which she named Olif and Lachlann. She requested yellow and green quilts for each. I got out my graph paper and went, well, not wild, but not normal either! In addition to their large initials, I put in their brothers' initials. Also quilted somewhere on the quilt is their older sister's name (She died of SIDs when she was two months old). I put their cat in it. I quilted it with curlicues and stars.
