sunflowers
Name of Maker: carol golden
sunflowers - This is a needle-turned hand applique piece. Yellow sunflowers in a bright colored vase with a blue fossil-fern fabric background. Machine quilted. The sunflowers were from a Susan DuLaney pattern and I changed the shape and pieces of the vase.
Struction Vehicles
Name of Maker: Beth
Struction Vehicles - Quilt was made for my son when he was about 3. I call it the struction vehicle quilt because at the time, he generally pronounced it struction, not construction. At this point, he corrects me when I call it the struction vehicle quilt, but I still call it that ;). He usually sleeps under the quilt and it has held up well to use and machine washing (I quilted a bit heavier that I might normally so it would stand up to the washing machine). I need to re-measure it, I forget the actual size.
Fuchsia Fireworks
Name of Maker: Carol Golden
Fuchsia Fireworks - This is a bright fuchsia and blue and black abstract designed quilt. It was done with curved piecing. I machine quilted circles in a variegated thread in each block.
Good Morning Sunshine
Name of Maker: Carol Golden
Good Morning Sunshine - I made this quilt in a class given by Linda BAllard at a retreat in Weaverville CA. I raffled it off at a small quilt retreat with friends and my good friend, Carol Jemison won it. She has it in her house now. It is red and white pieced using 1930's reproduction fabrics. Lots and lots of half square triangles!
Twisted Log Cabin
Name of Maker: Irene Beattie
Twisted Log Cabin - I bought all the fabric in Houston and made this quilt for my daughter. This is not made in the usual way of paper piecing but is made as a traditional log cabin and then each round is trimmed on the diagonal and when finished this gives the block a twisted look. Quite complicated and wasted a lot of fabric.
Optical Illusion
Name of Maker: Irene Beattie
Optical Illusion - Made this at a class held in Dunoon.
Moondance
Name of Maker: Irene Beattie
Moondance - Found this on internet and fell in love with it. It is designed by Beth Ferrier from Applewood Farm Publications. It was a block of the month and took me over 2 years to complete. My first attempt at making a full size quilt with free machine quilting and I still love it.
Two sisters challenge
Name of Maker: Irene Beattie
Two sisters challenge - After watching Vikki on the 2nd episode of the Quilt Show my sister and I challenged each other to use her technique of free-hand curves. The brief was to use three or five fabrics and to have it finished before my sister went into hospital to have her hand operated on. As you can see I finished mine - I am still waiting on hers to be completely finished!!!

Mad Dash
Name of Maker: Smittyd
Mad Dash - I saw this pattern and fell in love with it and with the thought of using some of my stash of batiks! I used the tropical leaf design from the batik backing fabric in a bright varigated rayon thread matching the top's colors for my quilting design. It is also on display at a wonderful local quilt/fabric shop.
