Julie's Quilt
Name of Maker: Barbara Alexander
Julie's Quilt - The fabric for this quilt was chosen to go in a room painted an olivey/taupe with one orchid curved wall. The bittersweet oranges looked the best with this combination--it was a delight to discover all the wonderful taupes now on the market AND to raid my stash! I was pleased with the way it looked in the room.
Bailey's First Big Bed Quilt
Name of Maker: Barbara Alexander
Bailey's First Big Bed Quilt - I purchased fabric with fairies on it because Bailey's room had fairy wallpaper with mint green and Pepto Bismol pink stripes below the wainscoating. For some odd reason, it was hard to get together on the design wall--every time you'd think you had a winning combination of squares, it would have 3 matching things together! Move even one and you were in trouble again. Finally happy with this combination, I sewed them together as quickly as I could & prayed that no breeze would blow them off before I got them assembled. I recall one time when the vacuum turned around accidentally & the exhaust blew them all off onto the carpet!! Now, if I get into a design dilemma, I PIN them on! Ha ha
Duncan's Baby Quilt
Name of Maker: Barbara Alexander and relatives
Duncan's Baby Quilt - I made this quilt before I knew whether my grandchild was going to be a girl or boy, but I was hoping for a boy. (P.S. I got my wish!) I think it's interesting that I made it mostly blue! At the time, I subscribed to a monthly service that mailed 4" blocks of materials to your house--it was a natural fit to make the "hearts" out of those 4" squares! I gave the pattern to relatives and friends and let them choose their 4" colors for their blocks, so everyone had fun making this quilt, and it used up some of my little squares stash.
Bailey's Baby Quilt
Name of Maker: Barbara Alexander
Bailey's Baby Quilt - I saw this quilt pattern in a quilt shop and copied it later at home. I didn't have directions, and ended up doing a lot of ripping out and re-sewing of seams! I didn't know ahead of time (when I was putting the quilt together) if the baby was going to be a boy or a girl, but was hoping for a girl! (P.S. I got my wish!) Looking back at it all now, I think this was made with a girl in mind--do you think that affected the outcome?

Countdown to Christmas
Name of Maker: Nancy
Countdown to Christmas - This quilt is made by folding fabric and sewing patches in a Christmas tree pattern. Gold Lame fabric is under each folded patch and the patch forms a little pocket that is turned down and fastened with an elastic loop and a jinglebell to show the gold underneath. A small ornament is in each pocket and is hung on the "tree" when the pocket is turned down.
