Crazy Quilt Block of the Month - block 3 - The 3rd block of the wall hanging. Quilt started in 2001 - finished in 2008. Still have 6 blocks to make into wall hangings, and 3 more to complete.
Flower Garden - I had two jelly rolls of fabric and was itching to sew something. I liked the quilt pattern "Flower Garden " in the book "Strippin Along" by Donna Kinsey and Linda Rocamontes and adapted my pattern from there, adding black sashing between the rows. "LOVE" how it turned out and not having to match all the seams every two inches made the piecing go a lot faster. I have the quilt spray basted with a black batting and a pretty green paisley back. It is ready for machine quilting so wish me luck.....
Crazy Block of the Month - block 1 - The back ground is machine sewen. All the extras are done by hand, with lots of embellishments. The sashing, border, binding was also add on by machine.
Split Rock Lighthouse - This was made as a challenge to re-create an image from a grey-scale photo. After piecing and machine embellishing I added hand embroidery for the greenery. This one called to me for a frame so I framed it rather than finishing as a wall quilt.
Jay's Christmas Quilt - Judy Hopkins Mystery Quilt pattern set in traditional barn raising, I used traditional Christmas colors for my middle son, Jay.
Suzanne's Christmas Quilt - Charlottesville Area Quilters Guild workshop class, instructor Trudie Hughes, completed for my daughter, using traditional Christmas colors.
Boys Quilts - Ryder, Parker, Enzo & Cody each have a quilt made by Grandma Lori. Novelty fabrics of all things boy and photo transfers, framed, make each quilt unique to each grandson.
Mom's Secret Garden - Panel by Michael Miller with fused black gate appliqued, machine quilted. The gate applique is a fusible fabric art kit, 'Autumn Gate' #CDF4101, by The Creative Iron.
My Cottage Garden - Batiks & hand dyes make up the 3 dimensional leaves & origami flowers of Kumiko Sudo's flowers in this original design. Machine quilted, hand shashiko by Lori Harris. The butterfly's are 2 matching pieces of butterfly fabric ironed together with Steam-a-Seam 2, folded and hopefully will continue standing!
Koda - A picture of Koda, a cockapoo, was printed on white fabric. A few layers of batting were used at the snout and nose. Thread painting was used to accentuate the fur.
Funky Flowers - Several of us decided to learn to applique so we used an applique book and made several of the little quilts in the book. This is my favorite one.
