Mum's Will - As we pore over her latest acquisitions, my mother often tells me, “When I go, there won’t be any money, but there’ll be lots of stuff!” She always ends by declaring, “Being of sound mind, I will have spent it all!” Luckily for me, a lot of that stuff will be vintage sewing equipment and quilting supplies.
She must have said this three or four times during four days we spent together in July of 2006, so I decided she needed a wall quilt that reflected her intent. After a month of puzzling over what type of imagery I might create, I remembered the “New Quilts, Old Friends” panel designed by Sandy Gervais for Moda.
When I gave Mum the quilt for Christmas, she laughed. “That’s right!” she said. “And don’t you forget it, kid!”
