Golden Gate Fly-by - This quilt was made as a part of my quilt guild's first "Whisper Challenge". I used raw edged fusible applique, free-motion quilting, metallic thread stitching, copper wire & beading.
One Block wonder Cubed - My Mother and Father bought me a whole bolt of pretty Hibscus floral fabric . I wanted to use it for the One block Wonder. I had alot of fun designing this quilt and i love the freedom of oneblock wonder to come up with your own design . Oh and I quilted it myself it was the first quilt I ever quilted myself and I gave it purple feathers in the border and feathered flowers in the blocks.
Wonder Women or The W Quilt - This quilt is the first quilt I ever finished for myself. It is special because the class brought together 5 people who had so much fun together that we became great friends and Wonder Women. This quilt will always make me smile and think of the Wonderful relationships it gave me. It is the first time I worked with Asian print fabric and I have a new appreciation for pinning!
Hugs and Kisses - This was made for my new daughter. I found these beautiful embroidery animal designs for Valentine's day and had to mix it with the fun fabric that was available. It was my first attempt at applique and I was happy with the outcome.
Sparkle and Shine - It's called Sparkle and Shine because I had a great time embellishing each block with my fancy stitches and metallic thread. It gave me an appreciation of what it takes to work with specialty threads and stitches. Each block is completely different and it is made entirely of batiks that my daughter picked out.
The S Quilt - I was honored when my Mom asked me to make her a bed quilt. The colors were based on her bedroom decor. It is called the "S" quilt because I quilted the letter S throughout for their last name.
Chinese Coins - I made this quilt using leftover strips from my Japanese Lantern quilt. I cut too many strips. My husband picked the border and sashing fabric. King size. Hand quilted.
Drawn to the light - A fun quilt to make. Dragonflies are in the border, drawn to the light of the lanterns. Used mostly oriental fabrics. Hand quilted. King size. 154 hours of quilting.
Amanda's Quilt - I made this quilt look more scrappy by incorporating numerous scraps (all belonging to the same fabric line). Made for a dear friend, it reflects her happy attitude towards life and the great laughter we've shared. I'm gonna miss seeing it on my design wall!
Wood Blocks - I did this piece using a wood block art piece at a local museum as inspiration. The original wood piece was done by George Morrison using driftwood found on the shores of Lake Superior.
Red Star - All of the red parts were done after the piece was quilting and bound. I did this to make the quilting really stand out on it, and give it more visual impact.
Daisy Day - This is done using a fiber layering technique - the daisies are actually silk flower parts, and there is a layer of tulle on top to hold down the loose pieces so it could be quilted.
The Night Before Christmas - I found the embroidery files and fell in love. Each panel is a "page" from the story The Night Before Christmas. It is digitized beautifully which makes it even better. Instead of making it into a book I used red velvet sashing and a candy cane striped binding and it hangs in our family room so every day is Christmas!
Five Little Monkeys - Being a preschool teacher the book five little monkeys is always one of our favorites. The embroidery designs depict the five monkeys, pillows and feathers. It was made for my preschools silent auction.
