I Wooly Love Ewe - I designed and made this quilt for the Fons and Porter baby quilt contest. It didn't win, but they published the pattern in the Jan/Feb 2009 magazine. I collect sheep, so I sneak them into my designs frequently!
Little Lambs Eat Ivy - I made this quilt for a baby quilt contest with Fons and Porter magazine. I won 3rd place and the pattern was later published in their Baby Quilts magazine. (Winter 2008)
52 Star Pick-Up - This was the very 1st quilt I designed. It was made specifically for our king sized bed. I put my new sewing machine through it's paces sewing and quilting it! I figured if I could quilt this on a sewing machine, I could quilt anything!
Love Letters - This was my 3rd show quilt and the 1st one I free motion quilted....and not that well. The design was inspired by some antique valentines I had. Of course I had to work in an alphabet! I've thought about re-quilting this quilt, but have decided it is just a piece of the journey and it represents the skill I had at the time.
Alpha Block Celebration - The name of each block starts with each letter of the alphabet. Each block has at least 26 pieces and the name of the blocks are free motion embroidered around the border. The tabs were added because it wasn't big enough to enter in the category I wanted to enter it in. All the quilting is straight line quilting, because at the time, I wasn't very good at free motion.
Letters From a Broad - I made this quilt for a narrow wall in my house and I loved the way it came out so much that I entered it in the Minnesota Quilt Show in 2008 and it won 1st place and Judges Choice! I have been hooked on quilting for shows ever since.
Rose Garden - Experimenting with many types of quilting approaches, trying to find who I am as a quilter, I came across Ricky Timms book on Convergence quilts and thought I'd have a go at one. The fabrics I chose were not in line with his, but the technique used was. My first play with thread painting happened on this quilt too!
Hushabye Coins - My friends have been trying to have a baby for 10 years and finally were able to adopt a baby. When they went to the baby's doctor's appointment, when Baby was 10 days old, they found out Mama was 3 months pregnant. So there will be another quilt for Baby J's little brother.
Early Morning Jewel - I made a photo kaleidoscope from a photo of a spider web I took one morning. I used scraps of lace, beads, yarn, and batiks to turn it into a little jewel of a quilt
Little Lumberjacks - Photo transfer of my boys at ages 3 and 5 - added lincoln logs to top and bottom of the little quilt to play on the lumberjack theme.
No color! - A challeng with 2 friends to make an 8" x 10" quilt with texture only - no color. I used braiding, ruching, folding, pintucking, quilting, gathering - lots of fun !
Complimentary Colors - This quilt was a class at my local quilt shop. I loved the setting and had my fabrics from another quilt I never started. The colors are all complimentary colors on the color wheel and I used them for the color wheel block in the center of the quilt
Out of my Box - Jery a member of my mini group asked us to try his new quilt pattern. He gave us a class and it was great fun... I was so far out of my box. I learned so much.. about quilting and myself.
