"Stop and Smell the Rose Garden" (1st place) - Michael Miller's wonderfully delicious pink pastel floral fabric seemed the perfect piece to inspire creation of this 86 x 64" 103-kaleidoscopic garden of roses entitled "Stop and Smell the Rose Garden." It was entirely pieced and quilted by me on my Bernina 440-QE. The original design is Linda Causee's "Wacky Wedge". I adore it so much that I've made 7 of them! I am very proud to say that this quilt was juried into the Denver National Quilt Festival's "Peak of Perfection" May 3-6, 2007 and won a 1st place Blue Ribbon at the New Braunfels Area Quilt Guild Quilt Show here in Texas at "Stitchin' in the Garden" July 21-23 2006.
"Stars Over The Tropics" (Judge's Choice 2006) - Kaleidoscopic stars shine over a secondary pattern of crosses, each embellished with a gold satin-stitched broderie perse applique flower.
Shabby Blooms - I used Grandmother's Choice block when designing this quilt, as my Nana loved pretty pastels and flowers. I know she would have loved this one.
Hot Air Balloons - Last year in 2006 my girlfriend and I went on a shop hop in Sisters Oregon, after the shop hop there was a challenge for all the fat quarters that we collected along the way. This is the quilt that I submitted and it won for my quilt shop. I was extremely proud because I had never done this before. I did the pattern myself and appliqued the entire quilt.
Paintbrush - This is a fabric postcard that was donated to Fiber Arts For A Cause. It is machine embroidered and machine quilted. The edges are machine zigzagged.
Still Life with Lemons - Juried into 'Transforming Tradition' an exhibition by The Quilter's Guild of the British Isles: a wall hanging rather than a bed quilt, a picture frame rather than a binding, raw edge applique rather than turned under.
Eye of the Gull - The gull is totally threadpainted on 10 oz. cotton canvas duck using a large variety of thread. The bird alone was cut off the canvas and machine appliqued to the sky background.
Rhapsody in Blue - This was a quilt designed for a Challenge which was ------- any piece of music with the word "Blue" in it, each person had a given piece of blue fabric to be used in it. I had always wanted ro tackle a Bargello quilt and I thought this was the perfect opportunity!
